Flowers

More poems that i have written
Flowers- They Say a Lot!

Flowers
Each color in a flower represents something
Each color in a flower means something
When some colors are put together they cam say something
White flowers
Mean purity, innocence, lack of sin, neutrality
It represents babies
How?
Babies; they don’t know what they do,
They don’t do things on purpose,
In their heart, they don’t have motives for their actions
Their heart is clear as the color white
Red Flowers
Represents anger, bloodshed, love
It means a strong emotion
How?
The color red is so strong in it’s’ appearance,
That it can represent a bad or a good strong of an emotion
Yellow Flowers
How?
The color yellow, makes us to think of the shining Sun;
When we think of shining, we dream as if our life is shining,
Which brings happiness,
When our life shines brighter than the others, envy develops in a person’s mind
Blue Flowers
Means peace, calmness, freedom
It represents the heaven
How?
When we look up at the sky,
we think of the heaven, the calmness it brings
Navy Blue Flowers
Means importance, dignity
It represents power
How?
When we think of the word “navy,” who do we most likely think of?
Of course the Navy army who are in power to protects the people
These kind of people are dignified
Pink Flowers
Mean importance, sweet love
It represents a sweet friendship
How?
If we make pink a little darker, we will get the color red, that is strong emotion, which can mean love; but just before we move into strong love, there is sweet love.
and that is pink
an earlier stage of red or an earlier stage of love
When some colors are put together they cam say something
Each color in a flower means something
Each color in a flower represents something

Flowers

This is a poem that i wrote about my mom. She is the best.

My Mother-A Visible God

My mother
She is soft as a feather
She is soft as a fresh flower
She fed me with her own blood in the form of blood
Others fed me too, but my mom is the one that fed me with love and affection
She didn’t have to teach me what love and affection are because she is the form of it
She rear
Me without making me to fear
Sadness and happiness comes and goes
Success and Failure comes and goes
But my mom is the one of the two that will stay with me forever and guide me through my childhood and will guide me through my future
She is my backbone
Who supports me in almost everything that I do
She is my shade
Which will never fade
She is my soul which will never leave me
In her eyes my siblings and I are the same, no matter what we do to her
She has a big heart which understands my feelings
Her heart’s beauty is endless to explain
She speaks from the heart
And do what she thinks is the best
There won’t be any surprise
If she won the Nobel Prize

Avalon High

Another great read by Meg Cabot! Ellie (the new girl in town) is attending Avalon High (high school). It may seem like a typical school, but the people there aren't so typical. As Ellie gets to know them, she soon realize that a lot of them resembles a character from the King Arthur legend....even she plays a part in this modern adaptation of the historical tragic tale. But Ellie isn't just going to stand and do nothing about it...

There are some cool facts about the King Arthur Legend in here ( a tinge of mythology ) and some great poetry at the beginning og each chapter! =)

Slight harder Cd's and a little drabble from yours truly

System of a Down's Chop Suey is rocking my head. Yes, I am a closet head-banger but i can't help but love the heavy lyrics of the song. (This is a long way a way from jack johnson)

I mentioned a few bands that i like the other day to a few friends who are really not into "mainstream" music. here's my question: what's wrong with it??? As far as I'm concerned, as great as undiscovered, not 'sold-out' bands could be, a mainstream gig has already made it- trialed and survived, made its mark, and gotten the approval of crowds. It seems like everyone wants to be truly unique nowadays and its becoming ironic (in my opinion).

The trend to be unique is a trend, which means- while you're being a rebel against conformity, you're conforming to not conform! (i hope you guys see what I'm getting at)

Does this strike anyone else as odd??

The breadwinner

This story has nothing to do with bread!! it is about a young girl during the Afghani war who has to dress up as a boy to earn money for her family. Her father is taken to prsion because he had attended university, and her brother had been killed by a land mine. Her famioy learns to cope with their situation, but are forced to commit acts they would never normally do. The bravery of this girl (parvana) is outstanding and I think that readers could learn alot from this book.

The Penultimate Peril - A series of Unfortunate events

This book is supposedly the second last book about the hardships of the Baudilaire orphans. As they learn more about a secret cult called VFD, they wonder if they are criminals or justice workers, for both occupations seem to include the harming of other people and the act of villany. They are no longer children, and must make a descision soon, which will answer the fate of their destiny; good or evil. But to them they seem the same

O- Damien Rice

My favourite recent CD purchase was Damien Rice's O. I listen to all styles of music (classical/operatic/punk and classic rock/metal/techno(trance)/etc. but this CD especially appealed to me. Although it has great songs and lyrics (delicate is a favourite), it's a cd that can play in the background during a morning coffee, while reading the paper, or doing homework.

8/10

Although I have yet to buy his CD, Jack Johnson is just *it*. I've got all of his songs (yes, yes, I'm an illegal downloader) and I can't get enough of them. Many people concentrate too much on songs that 'speak to them' and as important as that is, it's even nicer to have a bunch of songs that speak *with* you. They're all completely original, sound great, and fit your daily life without getting *too* angsty, sad, or golucky happy (which is extremely annoying at times).

Island Boyz-Graham Salisbury

A collection of short stories about boys who live on the island of Hawaii, each story is amazing and I loved the moral each had to offer. My favourite was Waiting for the War, but I loved each!!

Read it!

Luc is convinced that Nicole deserves better than Nate, and is determinted to show her that. It turns out that at the end of hercstay in France, Nicole doesn't want to leave! I wonder why....could it be because of Luc?

Read it!! It Rocks! C'est fantastique!

S.A.S.S. Westminster Abby-Micol Ostow

Abby is given the opportunity (rather has the opportunity forced down her throat) to go to England for three months as an exchange student. Her parents only make her do it so she won't continue dating James, her college boyfriend. When she finds out he has been cheating on her though, she is more than happy to escape to England, and even more happy to find how easily she makes friends, especially Zoe. Then she meets Ian, the new love of her life, and has a wonderful time with him-even meeting his parents!
But when James shows up in England, he surprises her by charming his way back into her heart, as much as she denies it. Ian is very jealous and wont speak to her until he leaves. A very exciting adventure-now I want to go to England!!

The Time Capsule-Lurlene McDaniels

Alexis and Adam are twins, Adam is in remission from leukemia. In their senior year of highschool, they have already picked their colleges and are getting ready to graduate.
When Adam's symptoms start to come back, he covers them up, hoping that his already broken family won't have to deal with cancer again. But when they discover the unconcious Adam, far along in his recurrance, what will his family do? What will Alexis do? Adam is her second half.

A book of love and loss, and just how tight the sibling bond can be, I had tears pouring down my face for the last four chapters. Lurlene McDaniels is a fabulous author and all of her books are a joy to read!( But all very sad)

Back Stage Pass-Gaby Triana

Desert McGraw, daughter of famous Richard "Flesh" McGraw, leadsinger and songwriter for rock group, Crossfire, has just moved, AGAIN, to Miami. Determined to keep her identity a secret for as long as possible, and to make friends, she quickly meets Becca, a girl in her advanced english class, whom she later discovers is depressed, and hasn't had a great card played for her life. Along with Becca, she meets Liam, a drop-dead gorgeous Hispanic boy, and they instantly fall in love.
Soon Desert's secret is out though, and their whole family has to struggle through the tabloids, and the fact that Liam's stepmother wants to write a criticizing story about Des' mom, the manager of the band, for raising Desert on the road.
Along with all of this, Desert is faced with many problems, such as how she feels about the hot new singer staying with them to "collaborate" with Crossfire, in hopes of a "younger" album. And what to do about Marie, her mother's best friend, who definately does not have the band's best interests in mind. Especially when she hired the new singer.

A wonderful story of friendship, and family ties, Desert shows just how much of an amazing person she is, as she discovers what she really thinks of her life, and when her family is blown apart by her father's uncovered secret, it is up to Desert to make or break her mother in an interview. Desert doesn't always make the right choices, and doesn't always have others in mind (self-absorbsion), but she proves that she CAN fix what she has done wrong, and she evolves greatly in this book. I couldn't believe this was the author's first book!

A Different Kind of Beauty-Sylvia McNicoll

The sequel to Bringing Up Beauty, Elizabeth is now starting grade nine at a high school where her ex, starting sophomore year, and his new girlfriend, a senior, go to school. Not only that, but she has been raising Beauty II, to be a seeing-eye dog.

In the other part of the story, Kyle, a diabetic and blind boy, is having trouble adjusting to his newly lost vision. Everyone suggests getting a seeing-eye dog, but try as he might Kyle just CAN NOT get over his fear of dogs, after being attacked by one when he was young. After a drinking accident nearly cost him his life though, he finds himself trying harder and harder to adjust to the idea of a constant companion and new pair of eyes-a dog.

Elizabeth works very hard at training Beauty, but isn't so sure if it will work, after Beauty darts in front of a bus from a jackhammer scare. Elizabeth and Scott (her ex) try very hard, and only time can tell if Beauty will overcome her fear. But when Beauty finds an unconcious boy from Elizabeth's school, one Elizabeth just happens to know is blind...AND diabetic...things start to fall in place, and Elizabeth's and Kyle's paths seem to be headed in the same direction....

And amazing book about growing up, and learning how to say goodbye. Elizabeth truly is a rolemodel, and I really enjoyed this book!

Guys And A Whole Lot More-Susie Shellenberger

A good Christian advice book for teen girls. From questions about school, to friends, to dating, to family, to premarital sex, Susie Shellenberger has very...firm opinions on all topics.

But be forewarned (as I was not!) this is a VERY Christian book!

But still ok advice if you're planning on saving yourself for marriage!

-Emily

Prom Anonymous-Blake Nelson

This is a book about three childhood friends who go their seperate ways, Chloe the path of a rebellious punk ( though really underneath it all she was just Chloe), Jace, the all-around girl jock, and Laura, the perfect girl-next-door. Despite their seperation of three years, when they came together, more specifically Laura and Jace to try and convince Chloe to come to Junior Prom.

When they convince Chloe to go, it's all about getting her and Jace a date. Laura is going with longtime boyfriend of two years, Mike, who is a senior.

Following the three on their boy adventures is very exciting, and I was quite surprised to find that Laura is a quite likeable character, despite her "popular" appearance, she is really just a girl, and as you discover towards the end, a not-so-perfect girl with a not-so-perfect life.
I thought this book was extremely well written and quite enjoyed Chloe's poetry (I being a poet myself).
Each character really is individual and i enjoyed following each of them on their journey and discovery of themselves, as they all go on the search for the man of their dreams (yes, that includes the taken Laura).

Read it! Lots of surface amusement as well as feel-good writing!

So you think you can dance

Andrea was just asking about music but I am hooked on this t.v. show, So you think you can dance.

Last week, I was devasted when Martha left. I thought she would win the competition with Travis. Her performance was not that great, last week.

I know some people were upset when Dimitry left.

Are there any shows you like?

Andrea Mixes it up with a Music Review... and a Question

I thought I'd segue into another Teen Summer Reading Programme Poll with a CD review...

Thom Yorke: Eraser
The ongoing debate in my household that has raged on for more than a decade is: Radiohead up to O.K. Computer, or Radiohead, O.K. Computer and beyond. I personally think Radiohead hit their peak with Kid A, which would rank as one of my favourite records, probably of all time, whereas my husband seems to feel that that record is a disappointment and a betrayal of the band's potential. I suspect that Thom Yorke's independent record will likely appeal more to those of us in the Kid A camp. I thought it was melodic, and atmospheric and just plain good, even if I am biased by years of devotion to Radiohead. My Rating: ****/5

My CD related question - Catherine has posted this request before, but I am in the process of upgrading the CD collection in the teen department, and have to submit my list by next week. If anyone has any recommendations (can be titles that you know to be popular with teens, or something you think is brilliant) please send forth artist and CD title information by commenting on this post.

My Top Five CDs in Heaviest Rotation for July - my rather impressionistic reviews

1. Sufjan Stevens - Avalanche
Every time I hear his music, I feel like I need to be playing guitar at a campsite.

2. Young & Sexy - Panic When You Find It
This band is a little-know duet from Vancouver, who I desperately want to find success. This CD is pleasantly versitle and best described as "charming".

3. Neko Case - Fox Confessor Brings the Flood
One of my celebrity moments: I saw Neko Case in concert serveral years ago, and I bought one of her EPs from her between acts. I said "Great set. I love your hair". She said "thanks." She has an extraordinary voice. Her music is teetering on the bring of being country - really almost blue grass, which I know is the kiss of death for teens (actually, most people I think) but if you ever want to hear someone sing and REALLY mean it, she's a great example of a passionate, gifted singer/songwriter.

4. Final Fantasy - Has a Good Home
A one-man act from TO. His music is so neat. He's a violinist who has applied his talent towards making dreamy, kind of ethereal music - it sounds to me like an interesting combination of historical and futuristic.

5. The National - Alligator
I love this band mainly for the singer's voice - it's so rich. He sounds like he'd be a very glamourous person. I love this entire CD, but have been known to drive home to Toronto after work with track 6 on repeat several days in a row. If there are any Interpol fans out there, I think you could draw a comparison.

Looking forward to your picks, Andrea.

Candy

Hey!
I read a book called Candy, by Kevin Brooks. I talks about a guy, Joe, who fell in love with a girl called Candy. (Candice) Joe soon finds out who she is. Drugs are not her main problem. Joe meets Iggy, her boss?Bodyguard? Candy's a whore. She gets money, gives it to Iggy, which gives her drugs. Now that Joe took Candy out. Iggy is going to do everything to get the girl back for money.
I thought this book is adventurous and will bring you to the edge of your seat. (at the end, it's a bit gross)
Read it!

Rules for life-- Darlene Ryan

Izzy's in high school, and her mother died two years ago. Her older brother lives alone in his own apartment, and her dad lives with her. Izzy and her dad talk about everything together, and one day her dad told her he was going to marry another woman since he wanted a complete family. Izzy is totally against it, but he doesnt give a **** what she thinks. Izzy barely knows her, and doesnt really like her. her mother (who died) had all these made up rules, such as ones like "chocolate chip cookies and good jewelry go with everything". Izzy always tries her best to refer to them to help make dicisions. Later on, turns out the woman her dad is about to marry (Anne) in pregnant! Izzy gets even more concerned when they get married, that she will have to live with a woman she barely knows, and also have her as a mom! i almost broke into tears reading about Anne's baby and what happenned to Jason (her bro) maybe you will too, if you read it!!

oya, if you are really immature, this book isnt for you!

Rules for life, Darlene Ryan

ps. if you get really into the book-- when the book is over, you'll be like"...okay...huh?so... and then what?" but too bad! there's no sequel!

Double or Nothing - Dennis Foon

Kip is way into gambling - it gives him his buzz. He bets on whether or not Mr. Cheese will burp in the next twenty seconds or not, and other trivial things like that. And when he meets his dream girl, Joey, his life definately takes a turn for the better. And better yet, her father, King Hewitt, is also into gambing. He takes Kip under his wing, and teaches him the ropes of serious gambling. Once Kip has learned the fast world of horse racing and the ways of the casino, there is no way he can go back to his petty gambles. But once he loses, he just keeps on digging his hole deeper and deeper. Double or Nothing is intense, and I really felt his sense of urgency. A great book for gamblers, and everyone else. Tip of the Day: Quit while you're ahead!!

Eight Seconds - Jean Ferris

John works hard at the ranch, and is relieved when his dad sends him away to rodeo school. Living in a house full of girls, he is thankful to spend six days just being with the guys. Everything is in good fun, until he finds out that one of his new friends is gay. Eight Seconds is about John's reactions, and dealing with somebody who is different. I really liked this book. It started out slowly, as all books do, but once I got into it, i couldn't put the book down. And don't be discouraged by the fact that it's a rodeo book - it's a great read for anybody!!

ZACK by william bell

I have finally finished reading the book ZACK by WIlliam Bell. The story is about a grade 12 teen named Zack LAne who finds a tresure box in his backyard. The name written on the box is Richard Pierpoint. ZAck researches about Richard; he finds out that Richard was a slave and finds some info about the nugget that he found in the treasure box. ZAck wants to know if he is related to Richard. SO to find out ZAck secretly goes to Natchez to see his granfather when his parents at a trip to Montreal. The reason why Mrs. Lane Zack's mother doesn't like to talk about her dad is becasause Lucas (grandfather) didn't want her to marry a white colored person. This made her to break up with her family. However at the end the two families reunite and lucas changes his thoughts on white colored people. I dind't like the ending because Lucas goes back to Narchez to live by himself, and nobody asked him to stay with them. However i didn't find out if Zack is related to Richard or not, i don't knoe if the mentioned it in the book or not but i didn't noticed it.

Poem: Books

Here is another poem written by me.

Books
They are the explanation of the world
They talk about you, me, them, her, him, and us
They are a volume of encyclopedias
In a book there can a war happening or a party happening
Guessing the next part in a book will be like guessing what the next thing that a baby will do

Books
They represent many people’s lives and life
Different, Different Books have many different characters with different characteristics
As different, different humans have many different characteristics in life
Many books are interesting
As life might be
Many books are boring
As life might be
Many books are long
As life might be
Many books are short
As life might be
Many books have happy ending
As life might have
Many books have a sad ending
As life might have
Many books are mysterious and full of suspense
As life might be
Many books are adventurous
As life might be
Books are unpredictable
AS LIFE!

The time you get to read a book is a time in heaven
During your reading there might be totally something else happening in your head while there might be other actions happening around you
Reading makes you to learn new vocabulary
Books are a dictionary
Reading a book is a ladder that increases our imagination
Reading makes you to be aware of many of the things that you even did in the past
It is a reflecting mirror of your actions

The Undomestic Goddess- Sophie Kinsella

...Personally, this book was a huge disappointment. Don't get me wrong, the writing was decent and the order of events was fine. It just seemed unrealistic and as much as you know the choices the main character makes are probably for the best, you find yourself screaming 'NOOOO WHY DID YOU DO THAT?! IT WAS SUCH A GOOD OPPURTUNITY!!! *wails*' at every other moment. The romance was ....cute but not my style. Future CEO of law firm falls for gardener who was fooled by her pile of lies at the beginning? Just not ideal- there are too many future holes for the couple. Altogether, I'm probably being a bit harsh- there's nothing really wrong with book, it just didn't appeal to my personal taste in plots.

Can you keep a secret? - Sophie Kinsella

A must read for chick-fic lovers. Emma is a fun character who has a tons of secrets that she accidentally blabs to the guy next to her on a plane when she freaks after some turbulation. She really doesn't know what she's doing at her job (she's quite surprised that she's still got it) and is in for a surprise when the CEO of the company she works for happened to be the man sitting next to her on the plane! Unlike most chick-fics, this one avoids *too much* humiliation for the main character (which can agitate me) and has a great ending. The characters are realistic in this one, but maintain the happy faults that make them lovable.

Poem" Sadness and Torture VS. Happiness and Fun

This is a poem that i have wrote earlier in grade in 9 so i thought like sharing it. The title is called Sadness and Torture VS. Happiness and Fun

School is a war
It is the bullet that kills happiness and fun
School is the alarm clock that goes in the morning
School makes life black and white
School is the siblings that tortures you daily
School is full of unexpected disasters
School is the turtle that was in the Rabbit and Turtle race
School is a race
That is full of many competitors

No School
Is like a treaty that we sign after a war
Means that my life will be crystal clear
No school is the gift that we get on each birthday
No school feels like there won’t be any problems in my life
No school is the cloud that completely covers sadness and torture
It is the white, flying angel that gives happiness and fun
No school makes you feel like you are the turtle that won the rabbit and Turtle race
No school is no race

This is not how I always feel about school but sometimes school makes so tired that I just want school to be over, especially during exam times

Hey!
I have been reading a book called "Chanda's Secrets" by Allan Stratton. Chanda a sixteen year old's life was perfect until her dad and her two brother died. That is when her problems started to appear. Her mother married a guy named Issac. Iris her step-sister was born from him. However Issac was being abusive to Chanda so Chanda and her mom, Iris moved away from Issac. LAter on Chanda's mother marries another guy named Mr.Dube. Soly Chanda's step-brother was born from him. LAter on MR.Dube died of stroke. Soon after Mr.Dube's death Chnada's mother marries another guy named Jonah who is a drug-addicts and who also sometimes has sexual intercourse with another girl named MAry. Jonah somehow gets HIV/AIDS. Chanda's mother get HIV/AIDS. Chanda's best friend who is a whore gets HIV/AID. Even worse Chanda worries that she will get AIDS too because her mom did. Fortunately Chanda doesn;t get AIDS but her moom dies of AIDS. SO later Chanda stop going to school and goes to work to care for the rest of the family. This book made me learn a lor of things. The story of chanda's secret is a true, personal story of what ahpped in a woman's life and it is a story of what happened in a woman;s life and it is a story of many people in South Arica. In this book Chanda and her family go through poverty every day. they do't have good clothes to wear, good healthcare, good schooling. This book made me appreciate the things that i have such as free schooling. I extremely feel sorry for those kids in South africa like us they have many dreams that they want to see happen but however they have to bury those dreams because they can't afford a good education. I hope countries like South Africa soon get developed. Another issue that this book made me more of HIV/AIDS which is a life killing disease. One of the reason why deveeloping countries are still deveeloping countries is because of AIDs. I hope soon doctors and scientists find a cure for AIDS. Beasue of AIDS many children are left as an orphan. From all the book that i have read in the past Chanda's Secrets is a book that made me to think of the issues around our world. This book made me realize how fortunate i am to be living in a nation like canada.
