Slight harder Cd's and a little drabble from yours truly

System of a Down's Chop Suey is rocking my head. Yes, I am a closet head-banger but i can't help but love the heavy lyrics of the song. (This is a long way a way from jack johnson)

I mentioned a few bands that i like the other day to a few friends who are really not into "mainstream" music. here's my question: what's wrong with it??? As far as I'm concerned, as great as undiscovered, not 'sold-out' bands could be, a mainstream gig has already made it- trialed and survived, made its mark, and gotten the approval of crowds. It seems like everyone wants to be truly unique nowadays and its becoming ironic (in my opinion).

The trend to be unique is a trend, which means- while you're being a rebel against conformity, you're conforming to not conform! (i hope you guys see what I'm getting at)

Does this strike anyone else as odd??

Andrea and I were just talking the other day but warm up acts for the main event. She went to a concert and liked the 1st group before the Nine Inch Nails.

Years ago, I used to like this group that played before Chicago. Yes, I am dating myself. Every time I hear their song, I am still reminded of that concert.

Not everyone has to be BONO/U2, Madonna or the Stones.

I'd like to recommend a book to you called " Hello, I'm Special: How Individuality Became the New Conformity" (I think), but sadly our copy is missing from the system. It is interesting and addresses your point. I think the big difference is that something that is truly unique is quite often pretty cool or innovation, but something that is "unique" for the sake of standing out rings of insincerity and usually comes off as cliche. Same with people, in my opinion.
