Blogging with us

In order to post on the blog, you'll need to be registered for the Markham Public Library Teen Summer Reading Programme.
All you'll have to do to register for the programme is send an email to teens@markham.library.on.ca - be sure to include your name, email address, phone # and age. You'll get a response inviting you to join the blog. This response will include all the instructions you'll need to get set up. If you have any problems, call Catherine or Andrea at 905-513-7977 x.7133 and we'll help you out.

Come by and meet us

Andrea and I do not usually work at the same time. We would love to actually meet you in person.

If you are ever at Angus Glen, stop by and say hi. We would love to see you!

By the way, you can tell us how we are doing in the teen department at the Library as well, when you visit.

Who Are We?

Catherine:
Hi! My name is Catherine. I am Andrea's assistant. I have worked as a Children's assistant, an adult assistant and now the best job of all, Teen Library Assistant.
Andrea and I just started working together in teens, in December. I have so much to learn from Andrea and you!
By the way, I am married to Steve and have two children: Christine who attends York and Andrew who is starting Centennial College in the fall. I also have a shih tzu named Leo (don't ask me about him because I never stop talking about him).
I am looking forward to getting to know you over the summer!

Andrea: I'm the Teen Services Librarian at Angus Glen LIbrary, and like Catherine, I'm really excited for the TSRP. I've been at Angus Glen Library since we opened December 2004 and have had a great time setting up the department and getting services started for teens in Markham. Catherine has been amazing, and I've been lucky to work with lots of teens (especially my two Teen Advisory Groups) that have made huge contributions to the department. I'm always looking for ideas and input from teens about what you think the library could do to meet your needs, so I'm really encouraging you to post as much as you like with any suggestions, compliments or criticisms that you may have.
On a personal note, I'm married to a dreamy guy called Mike and we live in Toronto. We're looking forward to becoming parents this summer - of kittens! (we're adopting). I have 1,001 hobbies and interests that keep me busy outside of work, and hopefully we'll have an opportunity to discuss some of them over the blog this summer.

Welcome to the Teen Summer Reading Club!

Thanks for joining us. We are looking forward to spending some time with you, this summer.

To begin, we are asking everyone to write a brief blurb about themselves and whatever else they would like to share.
