Worry
Hey, is anyone worried about getting new teachers. I know I am!
i'm not that worry about getting new teachers, i'm more worried about getting into high school, lolz. yup, i'm going into gr.9. just out of curiosity, if anyone goes to UHS here; is there such thing as "anitciation (don't think i spelt this right, but i can't find the correct spelling in my dictionary) day" on every friday of september?...it's like a day when people pick on gr.9
hey stephie!! i was in grade 9 last year, so i know what it's like. i go to BA, but i have a feeling it's all similar. the teachers say there is no initiation, but the older kids do it anyways. but as long as you arent' the type of kid that gets into trouble, or have mean older siblings, you have nothing to worry about. as for new classes, i'm a little nervous. last year, first semester was really good, but second semester i only had friends in my homeroom, and my friends had totally opposite lunches. as for teachers, i'm not too nervous, because last year i got stuck with a really horrid teacher for math. i was so estatic when the class ended, but i got her again second semester for religion. other than that, though, my teachers have been okay. but really, its all luck of the draw. just hope you get dealt a good set of cards! good luck!!
oh yeah, forgot, and thanks for the correct spelling of initiation...no wonder i couldn't find it in my dictionary, i was looking in the wrong section, hehe
Officially, there is no initiation. unofficially, yes it still happens from what i have heard in some schools.
I also have heard that it happens to the most popular kids and mainly boys. They cannot do anything out in the open because they will get caught. it is usually something silly and slightly embarassing. Some of the more gentler pranks: carrying a senior's books around and being there slave for the day.
I have also heard there is fun stuff. They have a day in september usually a Friday where the student council puts on a whole bunch of activities to welcome the niners. Some schools have theme days like pyjama day, red day, inside out day.
Enjoy the fun and don't worry!
P.S. easy for me to say. i was just as scared as you. I remember grade 9. The cafeteria really intimidated me. After a few weeks, it ended up we had a regular table that we would all get and sit together. something I feared and worried about turned out to be nothing at all.
p.S. I had the worst lock for my locker, too. I was almost late for class, the entire first week because of this silly lock. Ironically, I still have this lock because the number sequence was one i could easily remember.
The worst thing for me was wearing my uniform. I loved the skirt but the jacket was like burlap; Hot itchy and scratchy.
Studies have shown that you can lose literacy skills if they go inactive for a length of time - say a summer break. MPL won't let that happen! Stay literate this summer with the Teen Summer Reading Program.
