Lucy The Giant-Sherri L. Smith
Lucy is fifteen, an only child, motherless, left with a drunken father, and is, well, a giant. Bigger than most people at her highschool in Alaska, life is miserable for her, until she meets a little stray dog, Santa Barbara, but when Bar dies, Lucy runs away, thinking there is nothing left for her in Sitka. Because of her size, she gets mistaken for a crabber, where she spends months on a fishing boat, meeting friends like Captain George, Geneva, and even befriending the timid Harley. When Tracer tears away the mask Lucy is hiding under, nothing, not even her size, can cover for the mistakes she has made.
Lucy is an extremely lovable character, and even with a slow start, this book left me thinking well after I put it down.

Emily,
Your Lucy the Giant story was like my House of Lorelei Street. I kept thinking about this girl, long after the book was done.
Good literature makes us think.
i am enjoying your reviews.
You pick something a little different, each time.
