Ladder 49
although this isn't a book, it's a great movie to watch. (starring joaquin phoenix, and john trvolta) (2005). it is about a firefighter called jack morrison (played by joaquin phoenix). The movie opens with jack getting trap in a burning building while saving someone. As he lay in the rubble, waiting for help to arrive, the scene switches to the story of his life; how he transformed from a rookie firefighter to a skilled veteran, his family, and his courage and love for fighting fire/saving people.
through my point of view, i think it's a great tear-jerker. i don't usually cry when i watch movies, but i was bawling my eyes off when this one ended. normally, i just get teary-eyed when i watch sad movies (a.k.a: titanic, a walk to remember, the notebook). does anybody have recommendations for sad movies? (espscially ones that make you cry)

Stephie,
I was having trouble sleeping one night and I put this movie on to watch.
I was in the family room working on the computer and my husband was watching this upstairs.
When the movie ended, I was crying and so upset. My husband fell asleep watching it. I was even more upset.
The one part that got me was when John travolta had to make that difficult decision. You know the one I mean. I could not have done that. I would have tried something else. My husband said Travolta had no choice. His friend even told him it was okay.
It is fine to have a good cry, every now and then. This movie got me the same way.

the part that got me crying was when jack morrison finally broke through the wall and was in the control room, then he realized he had no way out because he was in the heart of the fire. it just cast off the feeling that somebody had given him hope to survive, but then the hope is snatched away from him. =(
Stephie,
This is the part that made me cry.
I was like you. I thought there was hope.
