Canadian Lifesaving Manual
if anybody is taking swimming lessons (bronze star, medallion, cross, etc), you'll know which book i'm talking about. It's a manual by the Lifesaving Society, and it's a great book for anybody interested in being a lifeguard or an instructor. It teaches the first aid treatment (both illness and injury), first aid rescue process, the lifesaving priorities (airway, breathing, circulation), other specialized lifesaving skills, and just generally stuff essential for being water smart/safe.
Recently, i heard that many parents are starting to invest in swimming lessons for their kids since drowning is one of the highest cause of death rates. and i think that's a good idea because knowing how to swim can either mean life or death in a water related emergency.

stephie,
i think this is a great course. We all should be taking it as a precaution.
i would like to have you or someone who took the course around, in an emergency.
P.s. High marks, my niece took this course and there is a great deal of time dedicated to completing all levels of this course.
