A Room on Lorelei Street - Mary E. Pearson

Zoe is fed up of having to do everything for her mama - using her money from the diner to pay the bills, cleaning up, taking care of the house. She finally has enough, and leaves her mama alone, moving into her dream room on Lorelei Street. Through the move, she has to deal with crazy teachers, her grandma who refuses to look her in the eye, and of course, making rent. This book had a good message, but i found that it had too many swear words and references to sex for my taste.

Hi, Jen:
I read this book, a few months back.
This book bothered me because as a parent with a daughter, I could not imagine being that mean or irresponsible to my child. This daughter was really the parent and that is too much responsibility for anyone, let alone a young woman.
I kept rooting for this girl to catch a break.
