Princess Diaries: VI: Princess In Training -Meg Cabot
The sixth book in the Princess Diaries series (if I may say so, quite an excellent series, not just some surface-level teen series, although it does have the regular teen stuff, and these books are like a teen bible, if half the information is real, and I'm babbling so BACK ON TRACK.)
Anyways, this book continues with Mia Thermopolis, the recently-discovered princess of Genovia, a small European country, living in New York, starting the grade ten school year at lower New York Albert Einstein High School, where she also attended grade 9. Only this year, she is without her boyfriend, Michael, who just happens to be her best friend's older brother. Michael is now in first year university in upper New York State, where Mia can basically only see him on weekends. And now Mia is worried that all her boyfriend thinks about is when she will be ready to "Do It", thanks to Lana (only THE most popular girl in the school) starting this wonderful rumor.
And now that Mia has dumped thousands of foreign snails in Genovia's ocean and Genovia's royal family is constantly in they eye of the press (and not in a good way), both Grandmere (the queen) and Lilly (Mia's best friend) are pushing her to run for student council president. Well, its more like Lilly puts her in the running-only against Lana.
This book is all about Mia's campaign and pre-election time, worrying about weither or not Michael is going to break up with her because of her lack of...Doing It skills..., her decreasing English mark, and mostly, being princess of a country she put in jepordy. ( sorry for my lack of spelling skills)
This book is definately no dissapointment, as many sequels are. And this book has a very strong underlying message pulsing thruought the whole story about finding one's self, and about being the best you can be, and always staying true to who you are, when you discover just who that may be.
All i can say is Meg Cabot once again didnt dissapoint and if you are looking for a good, scratch that, incredible!! book, read the whole series!

Emily,
Today, at work, I just put a number of Cabot's books, on display.
Tomorrow, I will make the signage, if I get 5 minutes.
Cabot is a great writer and very prolific.
I try and have random shelves with one author displayed to encourage kids to try, something new.
Actually, today there were a bunch of kids looking for books when i was trying to tidy up. I felt badly because I kept trying to get out of there way and was unsuccessful.
i actually wasn't aware that the princess diaries was based on a series of books. well, you learn something new every day. i'm sure that the books live up to your praise because another series by meg cabot that i have started reading, the mediator, is also very good.
