Defining Dulcie - Paul Acampora
After Dulcie's father dies, she must deal with her mother, who tries to erase the past and start again. While Dulcie is pained by the death, she cannot start a new life, and drives back home to Conneticut after her mother tries to relocate them to California. With the help of a new friend, she realizes just how important family is, and how much she needs her father. Defining Dulcie is a powerful novel about discovery, and dealing with the death of a loved one.

This book is highly recommended on all the reading lists.
Like many of the Young Adult novels, it deals with some very difficult issues.
Being a teenager is hard enough without losing a parent and then moving to the other side of the country as well.
Another great review!

Mina,
I am so sorry to hear about your grandmother. It was unfortunate that she passed away as soon as you came back to Canada. You were very lucky to see her that one last time.
My grandmother died the same year my daughter was born.
I still use different sayings she would use.
Grandma was very superstitious. When I buy new shoes, I never put the box on the table.
You will never get over the loss of your grandmother but you will always have memories of those special times with her.
My sympathies,
Catherine
