Magazines at the check out

I have a horrible habit of reading the headlines on those trashy tabloids while I am standing waiting in line.

Do you enjoy reading any better quality magazines? We are always looking to improve our collection.

One of my favourite magazines to read is Teen Vogue, which is currently available at the library. Its main focus is to bring you the latest in fashion, and keep you up to date on the latest styles. It also highlights many important issues relating to teens such as smoking, and the hidden dangers on the internet. Teen Vogue is a tasteful magazine that keeps teens informed.

Thanks for sharing about Teen Vogue.

I have to admit, I like Vogue magazine for the fashions. It is good to know that you find other valuable information as well.

Extra points as well for mentioning that the library carries this magazine.

p.S. I am also glad the library carries this magazine because it costs a bit more than some of the others on the news stands. Not everyone could afford to buy this one.

At the same time, my son has a Nintendo magazine which I ordered for 1/2 the price. On the news stand it is almost $10.00 an issue. Andrew loves this magazine because it gives a free trial disk every month.

P.P.S. We frequently have to go through and decide about ordering new magazines or renewing current subscriptions. I will tell Andrea that you think this one is worth keeping.

One thing i would highly reccomend for the library to do is check magazines for pages ripped out. I often have articles i wish to read in magazines, but are unable because somebody took it. Checking after each return would be very helpful, although i understand that this is alot of extra work. Thank you for your time.

Jen,

We get many complaints about the magazines, in all our departments. It would be great if the magazines could be checked before they went back out on the shelves but like you said, it is too time consuming.

It is too bad, not everyone is considerate. We have people who rip or cut out pictures for projects, etc.

If you are ever looking for a magazine article, we can often get it for you through our online databases or google the title for you.

Thanks for sharing.

Mina,

We have magazines for teens, in the teen department at Angus Glen.

All our libraries have magazines for teens.

Isabelle,

i am not sure if I answered this elsewhere on the blog but we also have online databases which have more scholarly journals.

Everyone,

We also have magazines in the adult department which you can borrow. They go out as quick as they come in and there is no rhyme or reason to get the latest issue.

P.S. Magazines cannot be put on hold.

Catherine
