Summer Jobs - Good and Bad
Tell us about your best and worst summer job.
My worst summer job was working in a factory on an assembly line. It was hot and horrible. One thing I learned out of that job was the respect I have for workers on an assembly line. I was very humbled by how hard they worked and the less than ideal working conditions. By the way, some of my friends were working down the road in a toy factory testing out toys and games.
My best summer job was the same summer. At the time, I was too young to realize that this was a great job. I worked in an office (my own office) compiling statistics and doing office work. They had me back for three summers. The money was amazing.
Tell us your experience. It might also help someone get a job, in the future.

My worst summer job was delivering papers for the Economist and Sun. Okay, i started it in November, but i worked all the way into the summer. This job occupied all of my time, as i had 63 houses to deliver to, and i got paid very little for my efforts. I must admit, i was very good, though. Now, we have lots of kids doing it, but none of them seem to stick around.
My best summer job, also last summer, was helping my neighbour at her daycare. It was fun work, and i got paid really well. The hours were also really good. I unfortunately had to quit a little early, though, because i sprained my ankle in soccer and was unable to help out, especially with school right around the corner.
Jen,
I did your worst summer job, this morning. My son started a full-time job for the summer, today and is finishing with the papers, next week. Like you, he has 63 papers.
In the heat, this morning, I went around delivering his papers. Andrew has delivered papers for almost three years. The prize structure is getting better, just as he is quitting.
I had been debating today about continuing on for him so he could get to the next prize level but my husband told me to forget it.
you are definitely right. some kids are not conscientious about delivering the papers. Our papers are; Tuesday, Thursday and sunday. Some of my friends thought Thursday's papers were Fridays and do not see Sunday's until Tuesday.
I won't tell you how many times, I have delivered the papers when Andrew was sick or away.
We are going to tease Andrew today when he comes in and tell him the papers are waiting to be done.
I babysat for years. It was a great experience. To bad about your ankle.
I hope you get a great summer job, this year.
Catherine

Mina,
This is a great first time job.
you have some money. You can fit it in with school and extracurricular activities.
No matter what job you have, be proud of yourself.
Catherine
