Driving and Learner's Permits
True confessions: It took me two tries to get my license. I have to thank my best friend at the time, Mary for going with me, on the day of my test. One of my many excuses was that I went to Keele and the 401 to take my test. Even then kids were going to Aurora because they heard it was easier. Personally, I think I was out forever but definitely longer than usual for the test. In the end, I think the guy felt sorry for me and passed me out of pity.
Someone's daugher, I am not naming names had the misfortune of going to Scarborough to take her test. She has not really been to Scarborough but to make things worse, she had a pedestrian run out into the road during her test. She failed. The next test she took in Aurora, she passed. I swear she and her dad put a thousand miles on my car, the week before the test.
This same girl has a friend who rear ended another car in the drive through line at McDonald's. When you order, put your car in PARK! She is no longer driving.
P.S. One other driving tip: If you see someone flash their lights on and off at you, day or night that means that the radar trap is up ahead. Slow down.
Slow down period! Your parents although they are appearing calm on the outside are wearing a hole in the carpet from pacing while you are out. The happiest sound I ever hear is when I hear the car keys hit the table or counter at night.
P.S. Check out the MTO website for driver information. Driving schools especially one of the bigger ones even has a parent course for those who are nervous.
P.P.S> We have one cd from the Ministry that looks pretty good for preparing for your test.
Check it out.
